Kate Hancock says YOU can make a difference...
Friends
and Family:
May 2009
The
Hancock Family will be walking to support the American Lung
Association’s Healthy Air Walk-A-Thon on May 16, 2009. Our son, Ryan
was born with Asthma and has been a very tough kid while managing all the
breathing treatments, inhalers and uncomfortable affects asthma management can
have on an active young athlete like Ryan. Asthma is a very scary disease to
live with. Ryan knows at any moment he can be stuck with no air and in the
middle of a life or death emergency.
At
the ripe old age of 10 Ryan has lived through the transitions of using a
nebulizer on a daily basis when he was a baby, to fast acting inhalers and
maintenance medicines to manage his disease. Ryan will do anything it takes to
keep his breathing the best it can be. He has a great doctor that follows his
sports activities to be sure he is using the right medication at the right dose
at all times. If you have ever been around someone that was fighting to breathe,
you know why our family will be out there walking to support this great cause.
Although Ryan has only had a handful of actual ‘asthma attacks’ it is an all
too frightening reminder for all of us how quickly asthma can spin out of
control.
Any
support you can provide is much appreciated as our greatest hope is one day to
find an actual cure for Asthma so all those affected with this disease can
breathe a little easier.
