In Memoriam - Robert G. Marra

QUEENSBURY — Robert G. Marra, 78, of Queensbury, formerly of Schenectady, passed away unexpectedly on Thursday, Nov. 25, 2010, at his home on Lake George.

Born in Schenectady on Sept. 8, 1932, he was the son of the late Anthony and Angelina (nee Nero) Marra.

He was raised and educated in Schenectady, graduating from Nott Terrace High School.

During the Korean Conflict, Bob proudly served with the U.S. Army.

He was employed by Gateway Beverage for 30 years after which he was self-employed.

Bob was a member of the VFW and was inducted into Notre Dame Bishop Gibbons Hall of Fame. He was an Eagle Scout, an avid hunter, fisherman and skier for more than 50 years. He enjoyed traveling, especially visiting Aruba with his many dear friends.

In addition to his parents, he was predeceased by his brother-in-law, Robert Mark.

He is survived by his wife and best friend, Mary Jane (nee Higgins) Marra; son, Andrew (Tracy) Marra and was anxiously awaiting the birth of his granddaughter in Dec.; his sister, Marjorie Mark; nephew, Richard (Debbie) Mark; nieces, Nancy (Joseph) Lorica, Sue (Leonard) Blond; sisters-in-law: Jeanne (James) Borckett, Nora (Garth) Gibson, Catherine Higgins, Liz (Michael) Ames; brothers-in-law, Matthew Higgins and Andrew Higgins; and several great-nieces and nephews.

Funeral services will be held Tuesday at 11 a.m. at Griswold Funeral Home, 1867 State St., Schenectady, followed by interment in Gerald B. H. Solomon Saratoga National Cemetery, Schuylerville.

The family will receive relatives and friends on Monday from 4 until 8 p.m. at the funeral home.
